Woodhorn Colliery is a former coal mining site located in Northumberland, England. The colliery was in operation from the early 20th century until the late 1990s. During its time in operation, Woodhorn Colliery was one of the largest coal mines in the region, producing millions of tons of coal each year. The colliery was known for its state-of-the-art mining technology and the skill of its workers.
After the closure of the mine, the site was converted into a museum, preserving the history of coal mining in the area and the lives of the miners who worked there.
Today, the Woodhorn Museum tells the story of the colliery and the people who worked there, and the site also includes a lake, an art gallery and a café.
