The city of Birmingham has strong historic links to the jewellery and metalwork industries.
The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter (located on the outskirts of Birmingham city centre on Vyse Street), explores this fantastic heritage.
Originally a fully functional jewellery workshop, the company closed in 1981 and left behind a preserved, working museum.
You can explore the Jewellers bench, the workshop, the engravers bench and all the original tools and stamps used during production.
The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is also home to 2 galleries which both have a tale to tell. They are aptly named ‘The story of the Jewellery Quarter’ and ‘Earth’s Riches’.
All in all a fascinating and unique museum and day out.
