Penrhyn Castle was built in the early 1820s. It is actually a country house built in the same style as a Norman Castle.
Sitting close to the banks of the Menai strait and amongst beautiful surroundings this excellent castle has much to explore.
Inside the castle are some very lavishly decorated rooms to explore. Be sure to visit the Library, Ebony Room and drawing Room.
A visit to the Keep bedrooms will allow you to see the impressive One-ton slate bed!
During your visit you must explore the castle gardens. With views towards the mountains of Snowdonia and across Conwy bay its is a sight of beauty – especially the Walled garden.
A real bonus when visiting Penrhyn Castle is the fact the castle also has its own Railway museum.
The railway museum has a variety of carriages and engines including one of the first two engines to be used on the Padarn Railway when it opened in 1849 – The Fire Queen.
All in all Penrhyn Castle is a great day out for all.
