The King’s Own Scottish Borderers (KOSB) is a regiment of the British Army with a rich history dating back to the 17th century.
The regiment was officially formed in 1689 as the “Sir John Fenwick’s Regiment of Foot” and later became known as the “25th Regiment of Foot” in 1751. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the regiment served in various conflicts, including the Seven Years’ War, the American Revolutionary War, and the Napoleonic Wars. In 1887, the regiment officially became known as the “King’s Own Scottish Borderers” and served in various campaigns throughout the British Empire including the Second Boer War and World War I.

During World War II, the regiment served in various theatres including North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and North-West Europe.

In 2006, the KOSB was amalgamated into the Royal Regiment of Scotland and it’s soldiers now serve under the name of the “1st Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland”. The regimental traditions, including its uniform and battle honours, are maintained by the KOSB Company of the Lowland, Scotland Battalion of the Army Cadet Force.
