The Holyhead Maritime Museum is a maritime museum located in Holyhead on the Island of Anglesey, North Wales.
The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the history of Holyhead’s maritime heritage, which has been shaped by its location as a major port for ferry services to Ireland and as a coast guard station.
The museum exhibits include a collection of maritime artefacts, photographs, and personal stories that help to give visitors an understanding of the town’s role in the maritime history.
You can see the painting ‘RMS Leinster’ which was painted in 1900. The Ship was later torpedoed in 1918 with over 500 lives lost.
The exhibits cover the history of the port, the coast guard, the lifeboat service, the RNLI and the ferries that operate from Holyhead to Ireland.
Visitors can also explore the fantastic World War Two Air Raid Shelter.
The museum is open to the public and is a popular tourist attraction in the area.
