Clitheroe Castle, an ancient site that has overlooked the charming town of Clitheroe for nearly 800 years, is a must-see. Clitheroe Castle and gardens are open to the public every day and are free to visit however there is a fee for access to the castle museum.
Things to see in the castle museum include the Mitton Hoard (a hoard of silver coins found nearby), a Roman Strigil (a cleaning implement), a Bronze age bowl and the magnificently kept Downham Banner.
