Visit the magnificent home of the late Queen Elizabeth the 2nd in Windsor, Berkshire, England.

Windsor Castle dates back to the 11th century, built by William the Conqueror and survived the English Civil war. Once inside the castle you can stroll around the magnificent gardens, explore the state rooms, Queen Mary’s dolls house.

Some of the main attractions to see at the castle include:

  • St. George’s Chapel: a beautiful medieval chapel that is the final resting place of many British monarchs, including King Henry VIII, Jane Seymour and Charles I. Also the venue of choice for Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding
  • State Apartments: a series of lavish rooms that were used for state occasions and entertaining by the royal family.
  • Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House: a miniature replica of a grand country house, built to a scale of 1:12 and filled with tiny furniture and accessories.
  • The Castle’s History: The Castle has a rich history, dating back to the time of William the Conqueror. Visitors can explore the Castle’s history through exhibitions, guided tours and audio guides.
  • Changing of the Guard: Visitors can watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony outside the castle gates, which takes place daily at 11:00 am (except on certain days). Watch the impressive Guards march through the streets of Windsor and into the castle during the Guard mount.

Please note that Windsor Castle is a working royal palace and sometimes it may be closed to the public for State Visits, Royal ceremonies, and maintenance. It is always recommended to check the official website before visiting.

As well as the main collection Windsor Castle has various seasonal exhibitions. Entry to Windsor Castle is unfortunately not free. Check out their website before your visit for an up to date entry fee and exhibition information.
